A new round of blanking sailing plan
Release time:2020-11-20 16:06:52| Browse times:

THE alliance announced plans to cut vessel sailing in December, which sets a new record for Asia-Europe freight.

Since August of 2020, situations of shortage of containers, explosion of containers, dumping of containers, port hopping and crazy increase of freight have been going on all over the world, which has not been effectively alleviated.

In addition to the surcharge imposed by shipping companies, the blank sailing plan also comes ...

Members of THE alliance Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, Yang Ming and HMM announced a new round of blanking sailing plan, which will cancel the FP2 loop in week 49, which has an average weekly capacity of 21,307 teu.

According to souhang.com, THE alliance plans to cancel a quarter of Asia-Nordic routes in the first week of December, which is in line with the plan by Hapag Lloyd—member of THE alliance , to raise rates on its routes by 70%.

Hapag-Lloyd recently informed customers that from December 1st, the FAK fee for freight from Asia to Northern Europe (excluding the United Kingdom) will be increased by US$2,000 to US$4890/40'H/C.

For the United Kingdom, Hapag-Lloyd’s FAK fee will be $5390, and for Western Mediterranean ports, the same rate will be applied and increased to $4910.

In addition, Northern Europe and the Mediterranean will also increase MFR (Marine Fuel Recovery) surcharges of US$310 and US$296, respectively.

Alphaliner points out that spot freight rates between Asia and Northern Europe have reached a record high, at $4,328 per 40-feet container in March 2010, according to SCFI records, meaning that this latest change in Haberot's FAK fees will set a new record.

"During this unprecedented pandemic, members of THE Alliance have worked hard to keep their customers' supply chains running," THE Alliance said.

However, the European Shippers Council has been strongly critical of companies withdrawing capacity while raising rates.
