It is expected that the volume between Asia and Europe will reach a peak of 491,700 teu in the coming weeks.Sea-Intelligence predicts that compared with the same period in 2019, the supply of container capacity has increased significantly, with a total growth rate of 32.9% in the first 11 weeks of the third quarter.
The agency predicts that the capacity between Asia and the west coast of the United States will increase by 33.6% over the same period in 2019, the capacity to the east coast of the United States will increase by 15%, and the capacity between Asia and Europe will increase by 22.7%.
Although the capacity will increase on a large scale, as the world's major Shipowners successively increased their freight rates in July and August, GRI has increased its 15th time. If you factor in additional costs such as peak season surcharges, fuel costs, and cabin purchase fees, the current freight rate for the Far East to the Eastern U.S. line can reach USD 15,000-18,000/FEU, and the Western U.S. line has also exceeded USD 10,000/FEU. The European line is about 15,000 to 20,000 USD/FEU.
